When Mary Beth was diagnosed with kidney disease she searched for a support group for kidney patients.

With the help of a local social worker at Puget Sound Kidney Centers she found the Road Back to Life. After being successfully transplanted, she returned to become a mentor so that she could pay forward the kindness that was given to her.

She recalls the major benefit of having “a safe space with a group of friends that were supportive and understood what I was going through”.

This safe space allowed her to be angry and sad, but most importantly it gave her hope. She loves to be part of a community that creates that same feeling for other patients.
